"Over the years I've thought about a live recording as vehicle for the full range, the chronology, the legacy to date, if you will. of my work. Here it is. There is nothing like playing live. Nothing like the immediacy, the improvisation, the communication. Studio recording is a different animal entirely. We did this in one shot, one night, at a beautiful, spiritual, small theater space upstairs in the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew in New York City. I don't know St. Paul or St. Andrew, but there was someone or somehting there with us that night. Essentially, this is as it occurred. A night in time."
